Overview

PomodoTree ("we", "our") operates two products: a web application at pomodotree.com and a browser extension available on Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. This policy covers both.

The short version: your Pomodoro timer data (tasks, settings, session history, badges) is stored locally in your browser and never transmitted to our servers. The web application uses Google Analytics for traffic insights and displays advertisements via Google AdSense to keep the tool free. The browser extension collects no data whatsoever — no analytics, no ads, no tracking.

What data PomodoTree stores

PomodoTree uses your browser's localStorage API to save:

  • Your timer configuration (focus duration, break durations, interval, auto-start preferences)
  • Your task list (task names, done/undone status, Pomodoro counts)
  • Your session analytics (daily session counts, focus minutes, session history for the past 35 days)
  • Your achievement badge history
  • Your theme preference (dark or light)

All of this data is stored locally in your browser under the key prefix pt_. It is never transmitted to any server. You can delete it at any time by clicking Reset Data in the Settings panel, or by clearing your browser's site data.

Cookies

PomodoTree sets one first-party cookie: pt_lang. This cookie stores your selected language code (e.g. en, fr, ja) so the app loads in your preferred language on return visits. It expires after 365 days.

The web application also uses cookies set by third-party services:

  • Google Analytics — sets cookies (e.g. _ga, _gid) to distinguish unique visitors and track session data. These cookies are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google AdSense — may set cookies to serve personalised or contextual advertisements. You can manage ad personalisation at Google Ads Settings.

The browser extension does not set any cookies or use any third-party tracking.

Analytics and tracking

Web application (pomodotree.com): We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the website — including page views, session duration, geographic region, and referral sources. This data helps us improve the tool and prioritise features. Google Analytics may collect your IP address, browser type, and device information. We do not use Meta Pixel, Hotjar, or any other tracking service. We have enabled IP anonymisation where supported.

We also use Google Search Console (via a site verification meta tag) to monitor how the site performs in search results. This does not track individual users.

Browser extension: The PomodoTree browser extension contains zero analytics, zero tracking, and zero telemetry. No data leaves your browser. We have no visibility into how you use the extension.

Our web server may log standard HTTP request data (IP address, user agent, timestamp, requested URL) as is standard for all web servers. These server logs are used solely for security and uptime monitoring and are not linked to any individual identity.

Advertising

Web application: PomodoTree displays advertisements on the website via Google AdSense. These ads help us keep the web application completely free for all users. Google may use cookies and web beacons to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or via aboutads.info.

Browser extension: The PomodoTree browser extension displays no advertisements of any kind — not in the free plan and not in the premium plan.

Third-party services

The PomodoTree web application loads the following external resources:

  • Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) — to load the Bricolage Grotesque and DM Mono typefaces. Google's font service may log your IP address per their own privacy policy.
  • Google Analytics (google-analytics.com) — for anonymous traffic analysis on the web application.
  • Google AdSense (pagead2.googlesyndication.com) — to serve advertisements on the web application.
  • Google Site Verification — a meta tag used to verify site ownership with Google Search Console. It does not track users.

The browser extension does not load any external services, analytics scripts, or advertising code.

Extension payments: Premium extension subscriptions are processed by Dodo Payments. Payment data (email, transaction ID) is handled by Dodo Payments under their own privacy policy. We receive only the licence key and email necessary to activate your subscription.

Children's privacy

PomodoTree does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. While Google Analytics and AdSense operate on the web application, we do not intentionally target or collect data from minors. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to remove it.

Your rights

Your Pomodoro timer data (tasks, settings, sessions, badges) is stored locally in your browser. To delete it: click Settings → Reset Data, or clear site storage for pomodotree.com in your browser settings.
